If email messages are an important component of your online correspondence with business colleagues or family members, it might be better to use an email account with your very own personal domain name and a mail service provider that offers support for the IMAP and POP3 email protocols, rather than using a web-based email service that involves limitations in regards to the size of the attachments. In this way, you will be able to access your emails on any desktop or mobile device using any software app – Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc. With the IMAP protocol, you will be able to check the emails at your end, but they will be on the server at all times, while with POP3, all emails will be downloaded to the device, unless you choose a copy to be kept on the server. In addition, you’ll be able to take advantage of many other handy options – contact groups, calendars, etc., not to mention that in case there is a brief problem with your Internet connectivity, you can still check your email messages since they will be on your desktop or mobile device.
